Attractions in Las Palmas
Given that Las Palmas is such a big city, it’s no wonder that there are several attractions and sights around the city. But Las Palmas can by no means compare with Madrid or Barcelona for those looking for cultural treasures.

But anyway, there is more than enough to see in Las Palmas as well. Not least, in the Old Town of Las Palmas you will find many historic buildings and museums in the Old Town of Las Palmas.
Museo Canario
The Museo Canario has the Canary Islands’ largest collection of artifacts related to the history and culture of the Guanches. Several of the objects can be traced back to the 15th century. The museum building itself dates back to 1879. The address is Calle Doctor Verneau, 2.
Casa Museum Colon
This museum is usually called just the Columbus Museum and you will find it at Plaza de San Antonia Abad, just behind the cathedral. The museum addresses the Canary Islands’ relationship with the United States, and Columbus is naturally central to the exhibition.
Centro Atlantico de Arte Moderno
The Museum of Modern Art, Centro Atlantico de Arte Moderno, opened in 1989 and is a driving force for art and culture in the Canary Islands. Here you will find lots of exciting art from Africa, America and Europe. The Centro Atlantico de Arte Moderno Art Museum is located on Calle Los Balcones de Vegueta Street in the Old Town.
Santa Ana Cathedral
Santa Ana Cathedral from 1497 is beautiful and worth a visit. Located in the atmospheric old town of Vegueta, everything should make for a cozy visit.
Santa Catalina Park
Santa Catalina Park, which is more of a square than a park, is the meeting place for Las Palmas residents. It is located in the north of the city, near Playa de Las Canteras. Here you will find, among other things, the statue of the sweet city original Lolita Pluma (see picture above).
Also, this is the place where the big carnival of Gran Canaria (February) is held. Then big scene and stands are built.
Museo Elder
Museo Elder, or the Museum of Research and Technology if you like, located on Parque Santa Catalina, is an option for the whole family. It’s no secret that the museum’s around 2,000 interactive exhibits, spread over 4,500 square feet, are all fathers and kids’ favorites!
Pérez Galdós Theater
One of the most beautiful buildings in the city is the Pérez Galdós Theater from 1867. The building was almost completely damaged by fire in 1928, but has been renovated according to all the rules of art, and reopened in 2008. The address is Plaza Stagno, 1 which is just north of the Old Town.
Lady Harimaguada
Lady Harimaguada is the monument you just have to see. We are talking about a huge drum-elastic steel monument. This monument erected in 1996 can be found along the Avenida Maritima.
